Shop in the one-of-a-kind original Mast General Store

Listed on the National Historic Register as one of the best remaining examples of an old country store, the original Mast General Store is more than just a shop — it is the lifeblood and lifeline of a small mountain community called Valle Crucis. This historic landmark, in the heart of the state’s first rural historic district, has featured quality goods and traditional clothing since 1883, outfitting visitors and residents from “cradle to casket.” The building still serves as the community post office, its pot-bellied stove still serves as a gathering point for conversation and its back porch serves a gather place for mountain music.
